Apple CVE-2020-3918 — Privilege Boundary Collapse Across the Apple Ecosystem

Formally credited by Apple for identifying a cross-platform sandboxing flaw affecting macOS, iOS , iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS over 2 billion devices, patched across multiple OS generations.

The research exposed a breakdown in cross-application privilege boundaries, where trust assumptions between isolated processes failed under specific conditions. This allowed:

  • Access to protected resources including photo libraries, keychain items, system configurations, and application bundles.
  • System-level crashes via interaction with privileged daemons, demonstrating escalation beyond standard application entitlements.

The investigation mapped Apple's privilege and trust architecture end-to-end — from userland applications to kernel-level enforcement — revealing how design assumptions in inter-process communication could propagate elevated permissions across contexts. Apple's kernel-level remediation confirmed the issue as an architectural flaw, not an isolated defect, validating its impact across their entire hardware ecosystem.

Luxury Online Retail

In luxury, technology is more than a storefront. It's a vital extension of brand equity.

I work closely with founders, creative directors, and executives whose reputations depend on flawless execution. The goal isn't just about features. It's about enabling high-ticket commerce without compromising exclusivity, compliance, or control. This requires working within the brand's strategy and balancing design integrity with scalability, performance, and measurable results.

For a retailer of high-end lighting, representing designers such as MASIERO and CTO Lighting, I optimised platform architecture to handle a design-driven catalogue with individual items priced into the tens of thousands of pounds. This included ensuring transactional reliability, media precision, and product data consistency so that the online experience reflected the same exclusivity and confidence as a private showroom appointment.

Across all of these, the constant is trust — working in environments where reputational risk is high, technical execution is invisible by design, and the value of what's being transacted requires discretion, precision, and operational discipline.

Age 17. First startup. Booth, pitch, and all — Microsoft Codecamp 2011

At sixteen, driven by audacity and a vision for cloud computing on Windows, I emailed Steve Ballmer directly. To my surprise and excitement, his team connected me to Microsoft Argentina's student program—a pivotal moment in my journey. Balancing school with afternoons at Microsoft, I learned C# and WPF as the web transformed—Chrome launched, Silverlight promised rich apps, and HTML5 emerged. It was a front-row seat to modern web architecture's birth.

That same curiosity led me, fifteen years later, to uncover a cross-platform vulnerability in Apple's ecosystem. From Buenos Aires student contests to security research affecting billions, my focus has been consistent: architectural thinking—how systems connect, where boundaries break, and real-world behavior unfolds.

Having worked across continents, I bring cultural fluency to technical execution — adapting products to varied markets, languages, and regulations.
Outside work, I follow the Formula 1 grid, delve into watch collecting, and curate music.
